The internal map that determines what a situation means — before you consciously decide how to respond. Every behaviour is preceded by a belief.

The Framework

What Is the MARK Model?

The MARK Model is a practical behaviour change framework created by Coach Rajiv Sharma. It explains how a person moves from intention to transformation through four connected stages.

Most frameworks solve part of the problem. Goal-setting frameworks clarify what you want but don't install new behaviour. Coaching frameworks surface insight but leave repetition to chance. Habit science explains behaviour mechanics but misses the belief system driving them.

MARK solves what all of them leave incomplete. It connects the internal frame (Mindset) to visible behaviour (Action), to disciplined practice (Repetition), to applied wisdom (Knowledge) — in one cycle a person can use alone, in a team, or across an entire organisation.

MARK is a cycle, not a checklist. Each completed cycle returns you not to the starting point — but to a higher version of it.

The MARK Cycle — How It Works
MARK Model Flywheel — Mindset Action Repetition Knowledge cycle
1
M
Mindset Shapes Perception
Your internal map decides what a situation means before you consciously respond.
2
A
Action Proves the Shift
Your behaviour reveals the belief actually operating — not the one you would claim.
3
R
Repetition Installs the Pattern
What you repeat becomes the default — accessible without thinking, available under pressure.
4
K
Knowledge Upgrades Identity
Earned experience changes who you are. The next cycle begins at a higher level.

MARK is not about positive thinking. It is about productive action repeated long enough to build mastery.
The Gap MARK Closes

Knowing Has Never Been the Gap.

People already know what to do. The real problem is installation. Watch what actually happens when someone returns to work after a learning event.

Leader
Knows feedback matters.
Delays the difficult conversation — again.
Salesperson
Knows listening builds trust.
Rushes into pitching before the customer finishes speaking.
Coach
Knows clients need deeper questions.
Stays at the surface — comfortable, safe, ineffective.
Professional
Knows confidence grows through action.
Keeps waiting to feel ready. The wait never ends.
💡
Insight alone does not change a person.
Installed behaviour does. MARK gives insight a structure that makes installation inevitable.

Why MARK Completes What Others Begin

Every major framework solves part of the behaviour change puzzle. MARK is the only one that addresses all four — as equal, named pillars — in a single cycle anyone can apply.

Sir John Whitmore · 1992
GROW Model
Strength
The world's most adopted coaching conversation structure. Elegant and universally known.
No explicit Repetition pillar. Assumes conversation alone installs change.
Stephen Covey · 1989
7 Habits
Strength
Deepest character philosophy. Who you are must precede what you do. 40M copies sold.
Complex to hold as a daily practice. Habit formation mechanics are implicit, not named.
James Clear · 2018
Atomic Habits
Strength
Most neuroscience-precise. Frequency builds habits. Identity from repeated action.
Addresses habit mechanics — not the belief system that drives which habits get built.
David Kolb · 1984
Experiential Learning
Strength
Deepest learning theory. Explains how experience becomes knowledge through reflection.
Requires a facilitator. Academic language. No daily practice structure.
Tony Robbins · 1990s
RPM Method
Strength
Strongest on purpose-as-fuel. Results, Purpose, Massive Action Plan.
Three components. No Repetition pillar. No structured Knowledge reflection stage.

What MARK Adds
The only framework naming all four — Mindset, Action, Repetition, Knowledge — as equal pillars in a self-reinforcing cycle. NLP-native. Works individually and organisationally.
Combines the best of all five above into a single cycle anyone can apply today.
The Four Pillars

Four Pillars. One Cycle. No Pillar Optional.

Remove any one of these four pillars and the cycle breaks. Most development programs include one or two. MARK includes all four — in sequence, with a diagnostic question for each.

M
Mindset
The Starting Frame

The internal map through which you interpret every event, person, setback and opportunity. Every behaviour is preceded by a belief — most people have never examined theirs.

A leader who maps disagreement as disrespect produces a silent team. A leader who maps it as useful information produces a thinking one. Same situation. Different map. Different culture.

What belief am I operating from in this situation right now?
Is that belief helping me act better — or protecting me from trying?

A
Action
The Proof of the Shift

Action is where mindset becomes visible. A person can claim any belief. Action reveals the belief actually operating beneath the surface — not the one stated in a workshop.

MARK asks one direct question after every insight: what will you do differently — specifically, measurably — today? Not someday. Not when you feel ready. Today.

What specific behaviour will prove my mindset has shifted?
What am I avoiding that — if I stopped — would change everything?

R
Repetition
The Bridge to Mastery

Most people can perform a new behaviour once. The issue is continuity. Repetition converts an occasional action into a dependable pattern — available under pressure, automatic rather than effortful.

The Law of 10,000 Hours applies here: mastery is built through repeated, corrected, refined practice over time — not through understanding alone. This is the pillar most frameworks leave to chance.

How many times have I actually practised this — not thought, practised?
What structure will ensure I repeat this even when motivation drops?
Explore Repetition in depth →
K
Knowledge
The Upgrade of Identity

Knowledge in MARK is not information collected. It is understanding earned — through doing, failing, correcting and improving. It is what survives pressure, what you can use when nobody is watching.

Every time a person acts differently, reflects honestly and improves — they accumulate evidence of a new identity. This upgraded Knowledge creates a stronger Mindset. The next MARK cycle begins higher.

What am I learning from actual experience — not from what I was told?
What must I improve in the next cycle?

The MARK Model was not created in comfort. It was created in recovery. Coach Rajiv Sharma went through a major business crisis — companies near bankruptcy — and used that crucible to examine success, failure, confidence and resilience at a depth no classroom produces.

He studied success literature across nearly 100 years, read more than 100 books, and arrived at one insight that kept returning: mindset is only the beginning. Action is everything. From that foundation — combined with the Law of 10,000 Hours and decades of live NLP work — the MARK Model took shape.

Today, Coach Rajiv is ranked #5 NLP Thought Leader globally by Global Gurus 2026, certified directly by Dr. Richard Bandler (co-creator of NLP), and has trained over 850,000 professionals across 57 countries through NLP Limited.

Frequently Asked

MARK Model — Quick Answers

01
What is the MARK Model?
An original framework by Coach Rajiv Sharma. MARK stands for Mindset, Action, Repetition and Knowledge. It is the only behaviour change framework naming all four as equal, named pillars in a self-reinforcing cycle — helping people move from insight to installed behaviour.
02
Who created the MARK Model?
Coach Rajiv Sharma — NLP Master Trainer licensed by Dr. Richard Bandler, ranked #5 NLP Thought Leader globally by Global Gurus 2026, and founder of NLP Limited. The model was created around 2013 and has been adopted by Fortune 500 companies across 57 countries.
03
Is the MARK Model connected to Neuro Linguistic Programming?
Yes. MARK is rooted in applied NLP. It answers the question every NLP learner eventually faces: "How do I take what I understood in the room and make it part of who I am?" MARK bridges NLP awareness and daily behaviour installation through Mindset, Action, Repetition and Knowledge.
04
How is MARK different from positive thinking?
Positive thinking focuses on attitude. MARK asks for proof. A better mindset that produces no different action is self-talk. MARK demands that changed mindset produce changed action — repeated until it becomes identity. It does not flatter the learner. It asks for evidence.
05
Can organisations use the MARK Model?
Yes. MARK integrates into leadership programs, sales training, induction, graduate trainee development, management trainee programs, coaching structures and personal effectiveness workshops. It gives every individual — from day one to the boardroom — a common language for turning learning into capability.
06
Where can I learn the MARK Model?
Through NLP Limited programs — including the Licensed NLP Master Practitioner Program where MARK is taught as a dedicated track with NLP tools powering each pillar. Also through the book Make a MARK in Life (available on Amazon) and the online NLP Foundation Program. Visit markmodel.com or nlplimited.com.
